Norwalk Homeless Shelter
We operate two temporary emergency shelter apartments, each consisting of three bedrooms; a kitchen equipped with dishes and cooking utensils; a bathroom and living room. Both apartments are fully furnished with appliances, linens, and consumable supplies. The shelter provides temporary living arrangements for homeless families up to thirty days.
The staff at the Norwalk Center helps provide assistance to families working through the problems which caused them to be homeless. Provisions are made at the shelter for food, clothing, and homemaking skills. Staff members also work with the shelter families to secure permanent income from a job or some form of public assistance. Referrals and appointments are made for shelter residents with the Health Department and Jobs and Family Services for family counseling or with other agencies as needed.
